Leave a legacy of People Helping People - Remember the New York Credit Union Foundation in your will or as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

How many years have you dedicated to your credit union? How many years have you dedicated to the credit union movement in New York State? How many peoples' lives have you touched through your credit union involvement? How many people have touched your life through the credit union movement?

Working for a credit union or a credit union associated organization is a very special experience. It can be life changing for you and your members, volunteers and colleagues. If you are passionate about the "people helping people" philosophy and wish to pass that passion along to those working in the credit union movement today, consider leaving a legacy to the New York Credit Union Foundation.

There are two simple ways for you to leave a legacy: 1) bequests and 2) life insurance policies.

Bequests

A bequest, a gift from a will, is a great option for a donor who wishes to retain control of his/her assets during their lifetime and assist the The New York Credit Union Foundation at a later date. A bequest can be made for a specific amount or a percentage of your estate. You can designate this gift for general use or restricted for a specific program. It makes sense for bequests to be as general as possible allowing the The New York Credit Union Foundation to use it for the most pressing need at the time the gift is actually received. Through this type of planned gift, the donor receives the following benefits:

    • Retention of control of assets during lifetime
    • Reduction or exemption of estate taxes as appropriate

You may have planned your estate through a revocable trust instead of a will. A transfer to the New York Credit Union Foundation from your trust will bring you the same tax and planning benefits as a bequest from a will.
